I thought this article was pretty interesting. I had never really considered the network effect in relation to the iPhone but it does make a lot of sense. I'm sure that a natural monopoly is what Apple and AT&T were aiming for, much like Apple and the iPod and iTunes platform. I know that I've already been enjoying Aurora Feint, Monkey Ball and Crash Bandicoot as standalone games. If I could play with others in real time it would make the games/applications that much more sticky. Especially a massive multiplayer type game.|
